ESPN Announces Collegiate Lacrosse Schedule for ESPNU and ESPN3

The collegiate lacrosse season will be starting up soon and ESPN today announced its schedule of games on ESPNU and ESPN3.

ESPNU will telecast  53 total games – 44 regular season, 46 men’s and seven women’s – including the crowning of the ACC, BIG EAST, America East and Ivy League tournament champions.

Sports Media Digest- January 9, 2013

Wild Card Weekend Averages 30 Million Viewers-  The NFL today announced that this past weekend’s Wild Card playoff matches  garnered an average of 30 million viewers, a number seen now for the last three years.  The four games were also the four most-watched games on all of television last week.

Wild Card Weekend Edition of NFL Turning Point Tonight-  The NBC Sports Network will provide a special edition of NFL Turning Point tonight looking back at the action of Wild Card Weekend.  Dan Patrick hosts the program beginning at 9:30p.m. ET and will look back at the key plays in the Seahawks/Redskins, Ravens/Colts, and Bengals/Texans game.

College Hoops Tonight on CBS Sports Network-  The CBS Sports Network will begin its Mountain West Conference coverage tonight as it telecasts UNLV at New Mexico.  Dave Ryan, Steve Lappas, Doug Gottlieb and Allie LaForce call the action beginning at 10:00p.m. ET.

Andy Katz to Host New College Hoops Show on ESPNU-  ESPN announced today the creation of a new college basketball program for ESPNU featuring college basketball reporter Andy Katz.  The weekly Katz Korner will feature interviews with ESPN analysts, coaches and players.  It debuts January 15th at 4:30p.m. ET.

Notah Begay III Joins NBC and the Golf Channel-  NBC Sports announced today that four-time PGA Tour winner Notah Begay III will come on board as an analyst for the network’s golf team on NBC and the Golf Channel.  The 40 year-old Begay begins this week on the Golf Channel’s coverage of the Sony Openin Hawaii

Next in BTN The Journey Series Debuts Sunday-  The Big Ten Network (BTN) will debut the fourth season of it’s The Journey series this Sunday at 8:00p.m. ET.  The Journey: Big Ten Basketball 2013 will look at the match-ups in the 2013 Big Ten Basketball season.  The premiere edition will look back at the Nebraska at Michigan State basketball game.

NBC Airs Notre Dame Marathon New Year’s Day-  NBC Sports will replay 10 hours of Notre Dame football New Year’s Day beginning at Noon ET.  Here is the line-up:

Tennis Channel Begins 2013 Coverage of Live Tennis January 1st-  The Tennis Channel begins its 2013 season of live tennis action with coverage beginning New Year’s Day of the Hyundai Hopman Cup.  The annual international mixed-doubles tournament will air next Tuesday and Thursday at 3:30p.m. ET with the Championship January 6th at 8:00a.m. ET.

Pro Bowlers Tour Sunday on ESPN-  The next stop in the Pro Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour will air this Sunday on ESPN.  Lon McEachern and Randy Petersen have the call of the PBA Chameleon Championship on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Sports Media Digest- December 11, 2012

MNF Wins Night For ESPN- Last night’s Monday Night Football (MNF) telecast on ESPN between the Texans and Patriots earned ESPN an average rating of 10.4 and an audience of 14.4 million viewers, winning the night for the network on broadcast and cable television.  Through 15 games this season, MNF is averaging a 9.8 rating 13.2 million viewers, up slightly from 2011.

NFL Network Replays this Week-  Once again the NFL Network (NFLN) will replay three games from this past week’s schedule.  Tonight at 8:00p.m. NFLN will re-air the Ravens at the Redskins.  At 9:30p.m. ET tonight the network will replay the Cowboys at Bengals.  At 9:00p.m. ET tomorrow NFLN will once again show the Titans at Colts.

Three NFL Games to be Profiled on NFL Turning Point- The next edition of NFL Turning Point on the NBC Sports Network will look back at the key plays in this past week’s Cowboys/Bengals contest, the Ravens/Redskins tilt, and the Bears/Vikings game.  Dan Patrick hosts the show which will  air tomorrow night at 10:00p.m. ET.

TNT NBA Twin Bill Thursday-  This Thursday’s NBA double header on TNT will begin at 8:00p.m. ET as the Lakers take on the Knicks in New York with Marv Albert, Steve Kerr, Charles Barkley and David Aldridge on the call.  At 10:30p.m. ET  Kevin Harlan, Reggie Miller, and Craig Sager will have the action as the Spurs take on the Trail Blazers in Portland.

Next ESPN SEC Storied Documentary to Feature Sam Bowie-  The next in ESPN SEC Storied documentaries will look back of the career of former Kentucky basketball standout Sam Bowie.  Going Big will debut on ESPNU Thursday, December 20th at 9:00p.m. ET.

WNBA Draft to Air Live in Prime Time-  For the first time ESPN will provide coverage of the WNBA Draft in prime time.  The event will take place on Monday,  April 15th at 8:00p.m. ET.  ESPNU will air the second and third rounds beginning at 9:00p.m. ET.

Boxing on CBS this Saturday- CBS Sports and Showtime are pooling resources to produce a boxing match for CBS this Saturday.  Showtime Boxing on CBS will begin at 4:30p.m. ET this Saturday.  It will be the first boxing event on CBS in 15years.
