NASCAR Sprint Cup Finale A Ratings Winner for ESPN

Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup final race of the season, the exciting duel between Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards, earned ESPN its largest NASCAR viewership ever.

The race registered a rating of 4.6 and an average audience of nearly 6.8 million viewers.  Those numbers are 18 and 21 percent higher, respectively, from the 2010 NASCAR finale.

For the 10 race Chase to the Sprint Cup, ESPN’s averaged a 3.1 rating,up 14.8 percent over 2010.

Ratings Continue to Soar for the NFL

Last week in the ratings war, NFL action once again topped the national charts.  CBS’ national telecast (mostly Chargers-Bears) drew an average of 21.5 million viewers to become the number one program of the week.  NBC’s Sunday Night Football of Eagles-Giants was the second most-watched program of the week with 20.3 million viewers.
