Strong Ratings for Stanley Cup and NBA Finals

Both ABC and NBC saw improved ratings for the NBA and Stanley Cup Finals on Sunday Night.

NBC had a 4.0 share for last night’s Game Five of the Stanley Cup Final between the Flyers and Blackhawks.  That rating is 54% higher than last year’s 2.6 rating for Game Five between Detroit and Pittsburgh.

ABC Sees 10.4 Overnight for Game 1 of the NBA Finals

ESPN/ABC has announced that it saw a 10.4 overnight rating for Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Celtics and Lakers.  That number is 17% higher than the 8.9 figure for Lakers/Magic in 2009.

From ESPN PR:

As was the case for every Finals game on ABC in 2009, Thursday night’s Game 1 broadcast was the highest-rated show of the night for all of television, helping ABC to win the night for all networks in primetime.

The broadcast tied for the highest-rated Game 1 overnight rating (with 2008) over the past six years.

NBC Seeing Good Numbers for Stanley Cup Final

People are taking notice of this year’s Stanley Cup Final between the Flyers and Blackhawks.  NBC saw a 4.1 rating for last night’s Game Two…

Game 2 posted a 21-percent increase over last year’s Game 2 (3.4) between the then-defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins, featuring Sidney Crosby.

Games Three and Four, and if need be, Game 5, will be telecast by Versus.
