No Sports Media Weekly Media Podcast This Week

The heavy rains which have battered southern New England has impacted this week’s Sports Media Weekly Podcast.

We have been rained out for this week (literally).  We will be back, hopefully as good as new,  next week.

In the meantime, feel free to peruse through some of our previous episodes.

Sports Media Weekly Podcast #28- Chuck Wilson, ESPN Radio

Sports Media Weekly Here we go with the latest edition of the Sports Media Weekly Podcast.

Ken Fang of Fang’s Bites and I start the show talking about the two,  five minute interviews of Tiger Woods conducted this past Sunday by ESPN and the Golf Channel.

Also on the agenda… we take time talking about CBS’ coverage of the first weekend of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament…TNT’s upcoming experiment this Thursday to have its studio crew call a game…and a preview of the six game baseball opening day slate on ESPN.

Our guest this week is ESPN Radio’s Chuck Wilson.  Chuck was one of the first hires when the WWL launched it’s radio project and recently returned to Bristol in time for the NCAA Basketball Tournament.  We talk to Chuck about changes during his 30-plus years behind the mic, his style of sports talk, and how he views his second stint with ESPN Radio…

Sports Media Weekly Podcast #27

Sports Media Weekly Welcome to the St. Patrick’s Day edition of the Sports Media Weekly Podcast.

No guest this week.  Ken Fang of Fang’s Bites and I spend the show talking about the return of Tiger Woods to competitive golf at the Masters and the expected media reaction.  We also talk about the upcoming coverage of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and the expectations of CBS.

We touch upon the new announcer line-up from Turner Sports on the Sunday MLB on TBS package when the baseball season begins.   We wrap up the show talking about the new agreement between Versus and DirecTV.

Turner Announces 2010 MLB Announcer Team

Turner Sports will employ a rotating announcer schedule for it’s 2010 regular season Sunday MLB on TBS.  Ernie Johnson, Dick Stockton, and Brian Anderson with split the play-by-play duties.  Returning analysts Ron Darling and Buck Martinez will share the spotlight with Dennis Eckersley, David Wells, and newcomer John Smoltz.

The play-by-play assignments replace former lead voice Chip Carey, who was released from his contract with Turner last fall.

From Turner Sports PR:
