Not so instant replay for NHL Game 7
June 13, 2009 | by Ray Frager | Categories The Rest | 1 Comment
That was a wild flurry (stopped by Fleury, no less) that ended Game 7 between the Penguins and Red Wings. I really wanted to see it again.
I understand NBC needed to show the Penguins’ celebration of their Stanley Cup, so we didn’t get the replay right away. But then the network stayed with the live shots through the handshakes and the announcement of the Conn Smythe winner and the carrying out of the Cup and the awarding of the Cup and the skating around with the Cup …
And finally I just gave up.
I’m sure I’ll catch that final sequence before next season.

Are you serious? They always do that with the Stanley Cup. They did show the replay about 100 times after they showed the guys lifting the Cup.
Im pretty sure seeing the best trophy in sports handed out is more important than the replay, which they showed anyway and showed at least 10 times from every angle possible.
You wonder why bloggers get a bad rap? This is Exhibit 1A. One of the best games in recent memory, one of the best traditions in sports, and you’re moaning about having to wait a few minutes to see a replay. Boo-hoo.
