NFL Local Sports Media- Dallas Cowboys

Up next in our look at the local sports media covering the NFL…those who report on the Dallas Cowboys

Newspaper-  The major newspaper serving the metropolitan Dallas area is the Dallas Morning News.  As you can imagine their sports section is dominated with coverage of the Cowboys.  Their beat writers and columnists contribute via content in the paper and via blogs.  It is a pretty comprehensive read.  Dallas linebacker Kevin Burnett also contributes through his Cowboys Insider Blog.

The Fort Worth Star Telegram is also a significant contributor in covering the Cowboys.  Their online sports section also offers up-to-date news on the team.   Beat writer Rick Herrin and others on the S-T staff contribute often to the Cowboys Corner Blog.

Sports Radio- The Cowboys Radio Network features long-time play-by-play man Brad Sham and analyst Babe Laufenberg on the call.

For the fan, Cowboys talk can be found on KTCK (The Ticket) and KESN.

Television-  On the TV side of things, Cowboys coverage can be found on KDFW, KVTV, KXAS, and WFAA.

Blogs- There are no shortage of independent blogs on the Cowboys’ beat. Among them are Blogging the Boys, The Landry Hat, Cowboys Blog.Net, and Cowboys Gab.

We know these resources are are only a few that cover the Cowboys. Feel free to promote others through our comments section.

NFL Local Sports Media- Indianapolis Colts

Our next entry looking at the local sports media covering NFL teams takes us to Indianapolis and the Colts

Newspaper- The newspaper of record in Indy is the Indianapolis Star. The online version of the paper has a fairly comprehensive sports section, including a dedicated page for the Colts. Beat writers Phillip B. Wilson and Mike Chappell have their own blogs that focuses on the team. Columnist Bob Kravitz also touches upon the Colts from time to time.

Sports Radio- The Colts have an extensive radio network.  Bob Lamey handles play-by-play with mark Herrmann and Ted Marchibroda working as analysts.  WFNI and WNDE give fans two sports radio stations to talk about the team.

Television-  Television stations covering the Colts include WISH, WRTV, WTHR and WXIN.

Blogs-  The Colts have no shortage of independent blogs commenting on the team.  Some of them include Stampede Blue, Colt Freaks, Nap Towns Finest, and Colts Gab.

What did we miss?  Include those sites in the comments.

NFL Local Sports Media- Carolina Panthers

Next up in our look at the local sports media in the NFL…the contingent covering the Carolina Panthers

Newspaper-  The region is covered well by the Charlotte Observer.  Their online sports section mimics the style of other newspaper web sites.  I am amazed that I could not find a Panthers-dedicated page.  Beat writers Charles Chandler, Stan Olsen, and David Scott do maintain a Panthers blog.  Many of the paper’s sports columnists also contribute to the discussion on the Panthers.

Sports Radio-  The team gets great coverage out of its radio network. The team in the booth consists of play-by-play man Mick Mixon, and color analysts Eugene Robinson and Jim Szoke.  WFNZ, The Franchise, is the sports radio station where fans can discuss all things Panthers.

Television-  Television options in covering the team come from WBTV, WCCB, WCNC, and WSOC.

Blogs- Independent Panthers’ blogs include Panthers Gab, Cat Scratch Reader, Cat Crave, and Carolina Panthers Blog.

Please add other media outlets and blogs of the Panthers in our comments section.

NFL Local Sports Media- Kansas City Chiefs

Our tour of the local sports media covering their NFL teams takes us to the heartland of the country, specifically Kansas City and the Chiefs…

Newspaper- The first stop for news in Kansas City is at the Kansas City Star. The paper has arguably some of the best sports talent to work in a medium-sized media market. Adam Teicher leads a group of writers who contribute to the team’s page. Looking for some quality columnists, look no further than Jason Whitlock and Joe Posnanski.

Sports Radio- There is an entire site dedicated to the Chiefs Radio Network. Mitch Holthus handles play-by-play with Hall of Famer Len Dawson on game analysis WHB is the mega-sports station in town. KCSP also provides Chiefs fans with a sports radio outlet.

Television- KCTV, KMBC, KSHB, and WDAF are the television outlets in KC.

Blogs- Many choices when it comes to independent Chiefs’ blogs.  Check out Arrowhead Pride, Arrowhead Addict, Chiefs Gab, and Chiefs Locker.

Please use the comments section to add any media outlets or blogs we missed and should check out.
