While checking up on the news of the day at ESPN.com I noticed that the Worldwide Leader has added a new, subtle wrinkle to the way they disseminate information.

It’s called the ESPN Widget. It’s a piece of code that can be added to blogs and websites that will display information of particular interest courtesy of our friends in Bristol. Here is how the “Top Story Widget” looks here

I like the look and the concept. They offer additional widgets promoting team and league news and scores. It’s another stealth marketing move by ESPN to expand their brand further. I give them credit…they appear to be ahead of the curve. Let’s see if it pays dividends.
