Game Preview- Kansas/Missouri Football
November 23, 2007 | by Keith | Categories Internet, Newspapers, Sports Radio |
Now that we have had our fill of turkey and all the trimmings, it’s time to focus on the upcoming college football weekend.
No one would have imagined back in September that the Border War between Kansas and Missouri would have so much meaning. A spot in the Big 12 Championship Game and maybe the BCS National Championship Game is on the line tomorrow in Kansas City. And the best way to follow the action is through the local media covering both schools.
Kansas Jayhawks
The institutional information on the 11-0 Jayhawks can be found on the University’s Athletic Department website.
On the print side of things, you have the Lawrence Journal World & News and the Daily Kansan University newspaper in the University’s home town. Both universities receive in-depth coverage from Kansas City’s dominant Kansas City Star.
Lawrence, Kansas is not a media hot bed so sports radio coverage locally is reserved for the University’s KJHK and the local AM entry KLWN. Kansas City Sports Radio KSP has the game broadcast and talk leading up to the game. Wichita’s KFHR also has coverage.
Kansas Jayhawk blogs seem to be sparse. Rock Chalk Talk seems to be one that will be all over this game. (If there are others I did not identify, let me know)
Missouri Tigers
The 10-1 Tigers get plenty of play as well on their Athletic Department website.
The newspapers in the University’s home town of Columbia consist of the Columbia Tribune and the University’s own Maneater. The Columbia Missourian also has in-depth online coverage of the game.
KCOU and KBIA has radio covered on campus while local Columbia station KTGR is the sports station with limited local programming.
As with KU, a search of Missouri sports blogs yielded little to choose from. Rock M Nation seems to be the best alternative. (Again, let us know if there are more)
There you have it. All you need to know about the Border War. Let the better team win!
